Damien Sandow: 'I Was Really Not In A Good Place' After WWE Release
Source: WWE

Once one of the hottest Superstars for a stretch, the former Damien Sandow reveals he was “not in a good place” after WWE release.

While his time as the former Damien Sandow wrapped up just under a decade ago, I don’t remember ever seeing him open up like this.

Now working in NWA under his given name of Aron Stevens, the former WWE Superstar opened up about his life after being released.

He spoke on a recent podcast with Chris Van Vliet, and it was certainly interesting.

Listening to Stevens discuss things, you have to feel for the man.

Released from the company in 2016, the man who once entertained us as Damien Mizdow openly admitted that the first eighteen months were really hard.

The current NWA star said that he had times where he was just in a bad spot and it did not matter what he did about it.

After plenty of moping, he finally realized that he was still the same guy who worked major matches against talent like John Cena.

He also understood that at that point in his life, wrestling was perhaps more of his identity than it should have been.

Putting it all together, knowing he was still “that guy”, he got himself out of his funk.

While his wrestling career following his WWE release has perhaps not been as exciting or followed, he’s proud of his work.

He is still quite the character, and at times WWE fans have wished he would return (like, even in the Rumble).

With his former partner and body double still with WWE, we can always dream of a return for the former Damien Mizdow.

And yet, as cool as such a happening could be…it does not sound like Sandow would campaign for it.

Rather, he sounded to me like a man happy to be where he was, at peace with how his career has turned out.

Still, with Triple H in charge and Miz remaining pretty steady and impressive, who knows what the future holds.
