The fallout from TNA Wrestling announcing that Scott D'Amore is out as the TNA President as Anthony Cicione has replaced him, leaving talent upset with management, continues with an interesting new twist.

The move

While some privately expressed unhappiness over his firing, others took to social media to let their feelings known as the former exec was widely liked in the promotion. As previously reported, D'Amore had a dispute with management before his release.

Pwinsider reports that Anthem is fully prepared to keep moving forward with the promotion and is willing to spend money on the right talent as they were prepared to make big offers to Will Ospreay.

Release

As far as D’Amore’s release goes, the decision to release him is not clear, and the “belief seems to settle on the idea that Len Asper, the head of Anthem, and D’Amore came to a cross-road where they disagreed on how TNA should be operated and only one person was going to win that butting of the heads - Asper. “

The word going around is that at some point in recent weeks, he went to Anthem with an offer to buy TNA outright with the backing of a major banking institution.

However, it was rebuffed as “some on the Anthem side that it was seen as a legitimate offer that was worthy of consideration, but the decision was made not to accept. “D’Amore seemingly knew the clock on his job was ticking if he was willing to buy the asset and walk away with it. He was aware the change was coming at least a week to ten days ago.

The belief is that D’Amore’s creative team and support staff remain in place while Gail Kim and Tommy Dreamer ran the initial Zoom meeting to inform the talent of D’Amore’s exit. The company was working on their game plan for April and beyond this week ahead of their next set of events.
