The Rock details when he knew it was time to return to WWE

The Rock made his return to WWE programming earlier this year, and his return also coincided with him being added to TKO's board of directors. Since then, The Rock has been a near full-time presence on TV, as he's been injected into "The Bloodline" storyline featuring Roman Reigns and Cody Rhodes.

On Saturday, The Rock teamed up with Reigns to face Rhodes and Seth Rollins in the main event of the first night of WrestleMania. Following the impressive match, which ended in victory for "The Great One," he discussed how he knew the time was right for him to return to the company during his news conference.

"When Ari Emanuel called and said, 'I'm going to buy the company,'" The Rock said. h/t to Fightful for the transcription. "...My number one priority was, can I comeback and have real value this time around and not coming back for hot shots or one night. It's fun, it's fun for the fans, but I wanted something a lot more substantial, but something we could really build upon. These past two or three months, we've been laying ground work nicely and not only building for WrestleMania this weekend, but I think beyond that and the future."

With another night of WrestleMania to come, there is a chance we could see The Rock making another appearance. After losing the tag team match on Saturday, Rhodes will now face Reigns under "Bloodline Rules" in his bid to win the WWE Universal Championship.

Whatever happens on Sunday, fans will undoubtedly hope The Rock continues to have a presence in the coming weeks and months. The story isn't finished. He has helped bring a new edge to the company's offering. He is drawing incredible ratings while elevating those around him.

The Rock timed his return to perfection. Now, he hopes to sustain his current momentum for as long as possible. After all, a legend rarely returns to elevate his former company to heights they've never seen before.
