WWE has released more superstars in the second set of releases this month.

The string of WWE releases continued late on Thursday night. WWE released the following wrestlers:

  • John Morrison
  • Hit Row (Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, Ashante Thee Adonis, Top Dolla)
  • Tegan Nox
  • Drake Maverick
  • Shane Thorne
  • Jaxson Ryker

The releases come two weeks to the day of the last set of releases. In the email from John Laurinaitis, the reason given was budget cuts. A reminder that in their Q3 earnings call, WWE had revenue of over $255 million.

Hit Row had just debuted on SmackDown in October. Scott had been NXT North American Champion up until a few weeks ago. The group seemed to have lots of legs, yet wasn’t given a chance to shine.

Thorne & Nox were both victims of having their tag teams split up. Nox has struggled with injuries as well, but both are extremely talented in the ring.

All of these wrestlers are extremely talented and will find new landing spots in the business. It is just a matter of where they’ll land in what has become an increasingly full independent scene.

Wrestlers Respond

Some wrestlers have already taken to Twitter to discuss the releases. Drake Maverick, who had been released in 2019 by WWE as well, decided to channel his friend EC3 and control the narrative.

Ashante Thee Adonis thanked WWE after his release.

Shane Thorne had a sense of humor about it all.

Mia Yim was part of the releases earlier this month. She took to Twitter with a Harold & Kumar clip in response to another set of releases.

Taya Valkyrie, known in NXT as Franky Monet, came to Twitter to comment on the release of her husband John Morrison. She wants fans to know that WWE has no respect for their talent.
